Each year, Limiar organizes and sponsors a three day family reunion bringing together families who plan to adopt or have adopted children from Brazil through Limiar, past adoptees and their families, and supporters of Limiar's mission to help needy Brazilian children. There is something for everyone at these well attended events. For the last three years, we have been blessed to have the leadership of the event in the capable and enthusiastic hands of Doni and Beth La Rock, who themselves are parent of four, including three adopted from Brazil . Parents find invaluable the opportunity to discuss issues and share insights of adopting and raising adopted children with other parents. Separate programs for younger children and older teens/young adults focus on issues important to them. There is even a program for young adults who were adopted from Brazil as youngsters and now have an interest in visiting Brazil to get in touch with their past. We frequently hear stories about children making their parents pledge to return to next years reunion as they make their trip home. No doubt, the reunion experience and the knowledge and friendships gained there, has made life easier for many adoptive families. We are sorry only that we cannot do more of them in other locations around the country. The 2009 Reunion will be in Bradford NY and celebrate the 25th anniversary of LIMIAR BRAZIL.
