Once again this summer, families from across the country came together at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, PA, to celebrate the uniqueness of their commonality…a deep love for Brazil and their children adopted from that great country. Everyone arrived with anticipation, excitement, and enthusiasm – ready to renew old friendships and make new ones.

There was one major difference in the 2006 reunion. We also came together to grieve the loss of and celebrate the life of Nancy Cameron…someone so precious and dear, someone who was responsible for all of us being together. After Nancy’s passing, the immediate question had been whether or not the reunion should and could take place. As soon as that question entered anyone’s mind, the answer came immediately and strongly. Nancy would want us to carry on…and so we did!

Probably for most, the highlight of the 2006 weekend took place Saturday afternoon. “LIMIAR: Nancy’s Legacy Today and Tomorrow”, prepared by Stu Cameron and his son Tom, was a wonderful tribute to Nancy and then an in depth sharing of the inner workings and arms of LIMIAR…and their desire to see Nancy’s vision continue. It was a blessing to have them stand together honoring wife and mother…and spurring many of us on to pick up the work of LIMIAR in any way we can.  As was evident throughout the whole weekend, Tom displays much of the same passion, personality, and purpose as we had come to love in his mom.

For all of you who were able to attend, we’ll continue to enjoy the memories of our time together. For those of you who were unable to attend, we missed you and know that you were there with us in spirit. We all celebrate God’s hand in making us the unique families that we are…and are thankful for the life of our beloved Nancy Cameron. Her vision was big enough, her heart brave enough, and her life committed enough to allow God to use her to shine His love upon thousands of children who “were lost, but now are found”.
